Project description
Based on a feasibility study, the project will investigate to what extent the anodic staining of metallic implant surfaces of three-dimensional ostheosynthesis materials is possible, which should serve a clear product identification and ultimately increased patient safety. Important factors are coloration, stability and uniformity of coloration. The aim is therefore to test which work is necessary in order to ensure a clear colouring of the highly complex screws and plates in terms of shape, bores and threads.
Pre-treatment of the materials plays an essential role and different methods are to be tested, whereby material removal should be within a tolerance limit in order not to impair mechanical stability and fitting accuracy.

The Gliding Nail, which has been manufactured by Intercus since 1992, is to be further developed within the scope of the research and development project.
The existing Gliding Nail is characterised with regard to the current production, the individual production steps and the material properties. Then, based on the CAD data provided, the image is displayed in a finite element model.
Alternative approved metallic materials should be included in the considerations.

In the “Medical Device Single Audit Program”, USA, Canada, Brazil, Japan and Australia have agreed on a uniform approach to the auditing of medical device manufacturers. The countries involved in the MDSAP mutually recognise the audit results.
There are currently 14 “Auditing Oragnisations”, including TÜV Rheinland. The challenge of an MDSAP audit is the combination of all the requirements of the participating countries and the very strict process. The company to be abraded must prepare itself accordingly.
