Feasibility study Anodic staining

Untersuchungen zu anodischen Einfärbungen metallischer Implantate

Project description

Based on a feasibility study, the project will investigate to what extent the anodic staining of metallic implant surfaces of three-dimensional ostheosynthesis materials is possible, which should serve a clear product identification and ultimately increased patient safety. Important factors are coloration, stability and uniformity of coloration. The aim is therefore to test which work is necessary in order to ensure a clear colouring of the highly complex screws and plates in terms of shape, bores and threads.

Pre-treatment of the materials plays an essential role and different methods are to be tested, whereby material removal should be within a tolerance limit in order not to impair mechanical stability and fitting accuracy.

Investigation of a sliding nail with regard to new manufacturing possibilities

Project description

The Gliding Nail, which has been manufactured by Intercus since 1992, is to be further developed within the scope of the research and development project.

The existing Gliding Nail is characterised with regard to the current production, the individual production steps and the material properties. Then, based on the CAD data provided, the image is displayed in a finite element model.

Alternative approved metallic materials should be included in the considerations.

Period: 08.08.2018-31.07.2019

Funded by the Free State of Thuringia from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Asia – specific Gliding Nail

Development of an Asia – specific Gliding Nail

Project description

The focus is on the development and evaluation of the application of a population-specific implant. These include the creation of a data base, biomechanical tests, the collection of data on outcome indicators and the discussion and implementation of scientific and clinical standards. In addition, the project includes evidence-based complication management in the area of proximal femur fracture.

Period: 03.05.2019-31.10.2021

The project funded by the Free State of Thuringia was co-financed by the European Union under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Introduction of new technologies for the production of sterile disposable products

In the future, INTERCUS intends to deliver sterile products in order to eliminate the residual risk of reprocessing non-sterile products, to facilitate the work of hospital staff and to increase the safety of patients.

Project description

Following key aspects are included in the range of tasks:

  • Analysis of the initial situation in the company(hitherto non-sterile products)
  • Clarification of legal  requirements (MDR, DIN ISO 13485 and applicable regulations )
  • Designing processes to be used in the company (cleaning, packaging, labelling, storage, traceability)
  • Implementation and validation of the processes (laboratory tests, monitoring )
  • Generation of the documents leading up to the approval by the Notified Body

The execution of the tasks of this project affects different areas of the company.

Preparation of the company for auditing according to MDSAP

Project description

In the “Medical Device Single Audit Program”, USA, Canada, Brazil, Japan and Australia have agreed on a uniform approach to the auditing of medical device manufacturers. The countries involved in the MDSAP mutually recognise the audit results.

There are currently 14 “Auditing Oragnisations”, including TÜV Rheinland. The challenge of an MDSAP audit is the combination of all the requirements of the participating countries and the very strict process. The company to be abraded must prepare itself accordingly.
